Türkiye–Cameroon Coffee and Cocoa Trade Exchange

Coffee and cocoa remain two of Cameroon’s most strategic agricultural sectors and a strong pillar of national economic growth. The Minister of Trade, H.E. Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, has long championed these value chains, with a clear vision to elevate Cameroon’s coffee and cocoa into premium export products. Beyond global positioning, his commitment has always centered on improving producer incomes and ensuring that farmers receive fair and competitive prices for their hard work.

This vision came to life during the first Türkiye–Cameroon Coffee and Cocoa Dialogue. Held alongside the B2B Forum, this session was jointly initiated by the Turkish Ambassador to Cameroon, H.E. Volkan Öskiper, the General Management of the National Cocoa and Coffee Board (NCCB), and the Cameroon–Türkiye Business Council (CTBC).

The exchange was concrete and forward-looking. Participants explored how Türkiye can support Cameroon in moving from raw commodity exports to local transformation and industrial value addition. Ambassador Öskiper, a known admirer of Cameroonian coffee, spoke of its rich and unique character, highlighting its potential to stand out globally. He expressed a strong interest in helping Cameroon scale its processing capacity by providing access to modern equipment that meets international standards. The idea is to ensure that Cameroonian producers can process locally and compete globally.

One of the major highlights of the session was the proposal to organize a Cameroon Coffee and Cocoa Day in Türkiye. This would be a showcase of Cameroon’s excellence in taste, origin and quality and a chance to deepen appreciation and demand in the Turkish market.

CTBC considers this dialogue a milestone. It reflects the kind of meaningful, sector-driven collaboration that can strengthen agro-industrial partnerships between both countries. We remain committed to supporting our producers, unlocking new export opportunities, and building solid, long-term trade bridges between Cameroon and Türkiye.
