A New Chapter for Cameroon–Türkiye Business Relations: CTBC Sets the Tone for an Impactful and Intentional 2026

The Cameroon Türkiye Business Council enters 2026 with renewed clarity, strengthened leadership, and a firm commitment to delivering measurable outcomes for its members and stakeholders.

This new chapter is anchored by the leadership of two seasoned figures whose combined experience, credibility, and institutional reach provide a strong foundation for intensified bilateral trade and investment between Cameroon and Türkiye.

On 17 January 2026, during the General Assembly of DEİK, Ahmet Demirtaş, Chairman of the Board of Tona Exim Cameroon, was elected President of the DEİK Türkiye–Cameroon Business Council

On the Cameroonian side, the Council continues to be led by Senator Nfon Ekoko Mukete, President of the Cameroon Türkiye Business Council, a role he combines with deep institutional and private-sector leadership

Leadership with depth and legitimacy

Ahmet Demirtaş brings to this mandate a profile rooted in enterprise, investment, and structured international engagement. A trained civil engineer, he has built and led companies across construction, logistics, mining, energy, and international trade. He currently chairs several corporate boards in Türkiye and Cameroon, including Tona Exim and Tona Exim Cameroon, and holds leadership roles within DEİK beyond Cameroon, reflecting his broader engagement with African markets

Crucially, his relationship with Cameroon is not theoretical. Since his participation in the Turkish business delegation to Cameroon in 2023, his engagement has been consistent and deliberate. That engagement translated into direct investment with the launch of Tona Exim Cameroon in partnership with Petrol Ofisi, firmly positioning him as both a decision-maker and a stakeholder in the Cameroon–Türkiye economic corridor.

On the Cameroonian side, Senator Nfon Ekoko Mukete brings more than three decades of private-sector leadership, institutional governance, and economic diplomacy. As Honorary Consul of the Republic of Türkiye to Cameroon for over a decade, Vice President of the Cameroon Chamber of Commerce for four consecutive terms, Senator of the Republic, and former Chairman of United Bank for Africa in both Cameroon and Congo Brazzaville, his experience spans finance, logistics, energy, media, agriculture, and infrastructure

His long-standing leadership of CTBC has ensured continuity, credibility, and trust, positioning the Council as a serious platform for business promotion and bilateral cooperation.

Why this moment matters

DEİK is Türkiye’s principal private-sector institution for foreign economic relations, coordinating over 150 bilateral business councils worldwide. These councils are not symbolic. They are working platforms that connect companies, facilitate market access, organize trade missions, and support investment through structured engagement with both public and private actors.

With experienced leadership in place on both sides, the Türkiye–Cameroon Business Council is entering a phase focused on execution.

2026 will be a year of:

  • Targeted business missions on both the Cameroon and Türkiye sides
  • Sector-focused investment promotion
  • Structured B2B engagements
  • Increased information flow and early access to opportunities for members

In the coming days, CTBC will announce the date of its first strategic meeting for 2026. This meeting will bring together both Presidents and will set the agenda for the year ahead, outlining priority sectors, planned activities, and concrete opportunities for member participation.

Members and stakeholders are encouraged to:

  • Stay connected through the CTBC website and official social media platforms
  • Join the CTBC WhatsApp channel to receive timely updates
  • Regularize membership commitments, which enable the Council to operate efficiently and deliver value
  • Pay close attention to announcements regarding upcoming events and missions, both in Cameroon and in Türkiye, as participation windows will be time-bound

Looking ahead

The foundations are in place, and the leadership on both sides brings experience and perspective to the work ahead.

With Presidents who understand the realities of their respective markets and a structured institutional framework, CTBC will focus on strengthening business promotion, encouraging closer bilateral cooperation, and supporting sustainable growth in Cameroon–Türkiye trade throughout 2026.

The year ahead will require commitment, coordination, and sustained effort. Opportunities exist, and through continued engagement and collaboration, the Council aims to make steady and meaningful progress.
